The link said the cops were just trying to disperse the people. I'm sure the kid whole threw it is going to get his ass handed to them by his parents

Where I grew up these were called open parties and you brought your own booze, put it in a tub filled with ice, helped yourself as needed, partook of the BBQ, usually took your own BBQ packs, host supplied salads, others brought salads too, music was loud till midnite and then toned down and by 2 am everyone had gone home.

Seldom had the cops come and there was MJ being smoked too. Point is, if you are really making it uncomfortable for the neighbours and doing it frequently, you will upset folk who have the right to complain.

The legal drinking age was 18 but there were 16 yo there too. Generally we self policed to make sure minors did not partake but they simply had dear BF get them a drink. Generally 16 yo had strict curfews like midnite and we kinda all seemed to manage not to pizz off the neighbours too much and followed the unwritten rules of open parties.

This was the 70s.

Why folk think that 16 yo are not gonna try drinking under age beats me? I did and turned out OK as did many of my friends back then. We are all in our 50s now and most of us are not alcoholics or druggies.

The few times the cops came, they usually partook and then simply asked us to turn the volume down, usually one patrol car and zero search and seizure.

Yeah, yeah, all harmless fun that "hurt no one" ... unless you're one of the neighbors.
