If you did not put your hands on the other person first, and you reasonably believe you will die are suffer great bodily harm, you would be justified in using lethal force...... that's the law. You know that.

You can Legally if the other guy is about to whack your skull with a cinder block or toss you over a balcony.
You Can kill someone who punches you in the nose, but you might spend the rest of your life in prison for murder, the Non-Justifiable use of deadly force.
