It just seems like a losing proposition for liberals in this nation. As gay marriage is something conservatives will just have to live with, it seems like guns are something liberals are going to need to live with as they face defeat after defeat.

Liberals lost the war on guns at the federal level a decade ago. The real fight has always been in the states. All 50 states now have some form of ccw. The courts is where the extent of our civil rights will be determine. Hopefully SCOTUS will take another gun case in the fall and give some sort of scrutiny standard to lower courts. Right now many of the lower courts are scared to overturn gun laws, and write safe decisions to punt the case up the ladder. Leaving scores of cases stayed to further decisions are made on other cases.

It takes a long time to undo 40 years of bad gun laws.

Why not allow people to legally marry a firearm? Then anti gun people can be called haters.

just because they are losing now doesn't mean they always will be. To believe otherwise will put second amendment advocates in a dangerous state of complacency. Do you honestly believe that had this push been in 2009 when both houses were Dem that we wouldn't be facing a draconian new gun laws? We would.

The second amendment continuously hangs by a thread, especially now, more than ever.

The thing about a "war" is that it's more than just one battle. I think we've started to slowly turn a corner on this issue in terms of public opinion, and many responsible gun owners don't see the NRA as the good guys anymore. I'd wait and see what happens over the next 10 years.

I didn't think the latest legislation would go anywhere. It was a bunch of chest pounding and grandstanding.

Since 1934 their have been bad gun laws...

we need to repeal the National Firearms Act, The Gun Control Act of 1968, The Hughes Amendment to Firearm Owners Protection Act.
