For all those blaming Republicans (none of whom voted FOR Obamacare), why do you think King O left the corrupt system in place and simply imposed cost shifting on it?

It's all about profit for corporations good sir! They bought the government, now they make you bend over and take whatever they decide you must pay!

Because democrats hate the idea of tort reform.

It's not just tort reform. Dems represent two groups of people: the top 1 percent and the bottom 20 percent.

Therefore they leave the corrupt systems gamed by the very rich and shift the costs of the bottom 20 percent onto the middle class.

Then they claim they are 'for the people'.

Partisanship aside, it's all about protecting special interests, else no one would have voted for it.

Protecting the interests of 50 different state insurance commissions and their appointments
Protecting the American Hospital Association
Protecting Big Pharma
Protecting medical devise manufacturers
Protecting malpractice litigation...........

How much pork does it take to get anything, done in DC beyond naming a post office?

Dr salaries aren't driving health care costs. To the extent you think they are the only thing that can be done is reduce their costs or expand the supply. Americans don't have that priority though, we would prefer to import the family of immigrants and let illegals stay... Most other countries don't let you in unless you are qualified and can contribute to society.

My gf is actually going in to medicine and her expected tuition before any grants and scholarships for just medical school is around $350,000 and that is in addition to undergrad coursework and a residency requirement.

On the other hand I just have an undergrad and master's degree to get and no malpractice insurance to cover. Just going off national averages she will gross more than me, but will likely net the same.

Yowza! My niece graduated from McGill medical school two years ago and her entire tuition was about $26,500.
