OK, so how do we stop those people from abusing that responsibility without enacting the very same kind of laws that make you want to scream?
You want to legislate away irresponsibility? Sorry, isn't going to happen. Some people are just irresponsible, it's a fact of life. We can't know which will be responsible and which won't. All we can do is hope that anyone buying a gun will take the responsibility of gun ownership seriously.
At least cars serve a useful purpose and weren't actually designed to only kill human beings like handguns.
that not the point cars do kill at least 30,000 every year compared to only 12,000, as for useful purpose, what about self defense? how is that not useful?
thank god our rights come for god, and not statist fools like you.

I see, so there's really no point in hating the "irresponsible and special stupid people who abuse the responsibility of firearms ownership" as much as the previous poster does. Those people are going to obtain guns and kill people, including children, and there's absolutely nothing we can do about it. It's just the price we have to pay for our freedom.

We license drivers and register cars, and we make people take a test to prove they know how to operate a car safely, and we prevent certain people from driving, and we require an annual fee to use a car, and (in many states) cars have to undergo a safety inspection every year, and we have lots and lots of laws and regulations aimed at reducing the death toll from cars -- which in fact has fallen greatly in recent years thanks to all those laws and regulations. In 1980 the death rate per billion miles traveled was 3 times as high as it is today. Regulation saves lives.
Be careful where you go with that car analogy. You might not like where it leads.

Right?
what is there that can be done? why punish others for the actions of a insane criminal?
