Right, the average household that receives food stamps consists of one adult and one child.

The average subsidy is ~ $136 a month.

Children....they don't need food anyway do they? lazy sloths....

Yes living the good life on $135 a month, who would ever want to get a decent paying job with those type of benefits.

Seriously. The average food stamp subsidy in my state equates to $1.40 per meal per person, and that is pretty similar to what you'll find in the other 49 states.

Imagine trying to plan a month's worth of meals on $1.40 per meal for each meal throughout an entire month.

Of course, some people do get their stamps, go on a crazy shopping spree buying high-priced items and stuff that isn't essential, and then they are screwed the rest of the month once that food is gone. But in my experience working with families on SNAP, most people try to budget and shop frugally.

The shill who posts against FS and the impoverished blames the poor and says they are too lazy to work on farms, or find a job (what jobs?).
In psychology this is known as "blame the victim mentality". she is the same type person who would support GOP blaming women who are raped, or people who are disabled. Hitler had a similar stance.

Of course the ideology she is promoting is the agenda of multi-billionaires, the fake tea party (Koch Bros. ALEC etc).

It is all a sham to blame and demonize those who arent part of the 1%. And its not working too well for the GOP, a dead entity at this point.

If the GOP would just move away from nanny-state Big Brother Big Government moral watchdog fundy Christian religious wackadoo neocon-ism nonsense and back to some of the actual conservative principles it stood for decades ago, they might earn back some of the respect they've lost through the years and once again count somewhat rational, moderate followers among their number.

Instead they continue to want to grow the government bigger in nearly every area (except by letting corporations run amok) and head further and further off the rails into irrelevancy and moonbat lunacy.

Trust me, this doesn't mean I'm givig a pass to the Dem Party who I hate equally but for some different reasons.

Congress can't agree on anything, they couldn't agree on these farm subsidies and food stamps when they were combined, nothing will ever get passed.

This is what is so sad about politics today. Dems argued for years to end the subsidies to the big agro firms
This will make it easier to do. Separate individual welfare from corporate welfare and then make your argument s. No more using the excuse you are going to give del Monte a huge tax break because you don't want to vote against food stamps.
Like the president said, we can get the Farm Bill done.

There has to be a little give and take.

-Taper Food Stamp subsidies for recipients who take advantage of the program year after year (no taper for new registrants)

-End all corn subsidies for profitable industrial farms

-Hand over school lunch and breakfast programs to the states and allow block grants for states with balanced budgets

I don't see why a little compromise here can't get this bill passed?

Why should poorly run farms get subsidies but not well run ones?

I don't know where you came up with 1 in 7 don't need food stamps.
The are sociopathic...no empathy, no remorse, void of conscience. It is not coincidental that these people tend to overcompensate by clinging to religion, but all the while never actually understanding the teachings by more than a superficial level and using their so called values as a masquerade to hide the ugliness that resides within.

Unprofitable ≠ poorly run

Natural disasters, for instance.
