Reagan was the biggest war Keynesian we ever had considering we did not even have a war. Anyone one can sell fur coats in Winter, but Reagan could sell wool mittens at an outdoor water park.

He and Bush 1 also raised taxes numerous times after realizing they cut them too much.

Ike's party was a Northern and Western party.

Ike could easily get elected as a Republican governor of a Northeastern state today, but he couldn't win the south. Ike, although a midwesterner himself, was associated with the Northeastern moderate wing of the GOP, which is currently in serious decline.

In what way? Expanding government size and spending or reverence? Yes to the former and no to the latter.

Eisenhower was the last decent, substantive President in America.

It was Kennedy who studied Hollywood for his campaign and Presidency. After that, crooks and buffoons.

Americans live in a Reality TV show run by Jerry Springer. That's why we have the pols we have today.

I could try to explain what it was like for working people back then, but you would really have to live through it to fully understand what it was like.

Ike did win Florida back in the day, so that might count as something, though.

Do explain, please. Don't want history to be forgotten.

Bush Sr was defeated in re-election. That right there will always disqualify an American president from being spoken of in reverence. Bush Jr was widely disliked and by the end of his second term, even many Republicans didn't think highly of him. Plus, given the fact that the Republican party has taken a turn towards being more about fiscal responsibility, Dubya's "compassionate conservative" policies are anathema to the new outlook of the Republican party.
