...So why do Republicans support some charismatic Hollywood actor rather than a more serious president?
Because today's republicans are no longer conservatives, they are followers of the corporate backed Fox news and Rush radio (Fox/Rush's only purpose is to get supply side tax cuts and corporate deregulation.) Fox/Rush listeners fully share the dreams of Fox and Rush, and they share the dreams of corporate CEO's like M. Romney.

I will show that the following statements are fully correct. Today's republicans (literally) judge politicians by the size of the tax cut they give to the rich, and by their desire for corporate deregulation. If a republican wants to give the rich tax cuts they are loved. And if a republican is against tax cuts for the rich they are swept under the rug, they are forgotten, or they are not liked.

R. Reagan started the supply side tax cuts and corporate deregulation (so republicans love Reagan.)

G(H)W Bush disliked supply side tax cuts (so republicans swept him under the rug, and he gets no attention or respect.)

GW Bush gave the rich a $2.5 trillion dollar tax cut (so republicans respect GW Bush.)

John Mccain votes against tax cuts for the rich (so republicans don't like him.)

M. Romney wanted to give the rich a $6.6 trillion dollar tax cut (so republicans like Romney.)

Eisenhower believed that taxes could not be cut until the budget was balanced (so republicans swept him under the rug, and have forgotten him.)

The following Australian documentary shows/explains how Fox news and billionaires like the Koch brothers manipulate today's republicans as if they were retarded sheep.

That's why they nominated a moderate former Massachusetts Governor 2 years ago for Prez? Because the North East moderate wing is dying? lols.

I remember living through the Ike years. It was a very difficult time for our family. Right now I think it would be an improvement over what we have become. You don't know what you've got until you lose it.

I think he was ruined by a jeep driver and her story about him.

Bwahahahahaha!

The man who said "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." That guy, in today's GOP? Among the Cheneys, Rumsfelds, Koch brothers, Wolfowitzes running things??

They would bellow out that he's a commie-pinko-socialist who wants to turn us over to the Chinese and once done swiftboating his military career, half their yokel voters would be convinced he secretly worked for the Axis. As for those who hunger and are not fed, well - 21st century Republicans can say sh.t like "hunger is a good motivator" and still get elected.

The modern GOP self-selects against this world's Eisenhowers.

Eisenhower was not in the Tea Party style. He continued smoothly many previous policies at a time when Republicans were not associated with religious conservatives or angry tea party followers. Its not a coincidence that bi-partisan cooperation for the benefit of America was possible in those days.
Reagan on the other hand, was a "hinge president". He changed a lot compared to what presidents like Nixon and Ford did before him, not to mention Carter. Newt and republicans like Cheney continued the "change", to the point that no dialogue is possible today.

Ike just didn't froth at the mouth enough for today's Republican Party. He's gotta toss more red meat than what he did.

Damn..you said this SO MUCH better than I ever could.

Everything you said is absolutely correct. I've noticed that when you bring up Ike in political conversations with Republicans, they start acting really weird...almost as if I asked them about their sex lives or something. The guy really creeps out modern day Repubs because he was quite successful and popular doing just about everything they're against.

Ike couldn't win the Republican nomination for county treasurer nowadays even if he had his record to run on.

I wasn't around then but I suspect IKE was a lousy President.

Liberals always say how great he was. That means he was awful.

Kinda like FDR, Clinton and Obama.

Yeah...we get it. You like such winners as John McCain and Mitt Romney.

Ike was awful...but let's put Sarah Palin a heartbeat away from the presidency.

You're a genius. Wonder what they're putting in the water up in the Buckeye these days.
