Interesting stuff. It seems that many white people value the lives of dogs more than those of blacks. It makes you think.
Really? You have a hard time differentiating betweeen the two.
Let me help you.
Vick commited a crime
Zimmerman did NOT commit a crime.
There are many people of many races that have woefully misplaced priorities. I have to agree that the really whiney animal rights people have a funny knack for being white and I'm sure Marcus thinks that he's profoundly advocating for his family, but I think he should bear in mind how different the relative cases between Zimmerman and Vick really are. The US Attorney had a very strong case against Michael Vick including family members that turned on him and he pleaded guilty to a federal felony in exchange for a reduced sentence. How long was he in prison again? What was his earning capacity when he got out?
Zimmerman was facing a life sentence. There is no parole in Florida. Who had more at stake? Who would you rather be right now and for the next 20 years?
Good thought......and who can still hold a job and not worry about being murdered on the streets.
Michael Vick is a bloodthirsty psychopath who got off on torturing dogs to death in some pretty sickening ways. If the DA in Virginia wasn't a homer, Vick would be doing 40 years for killing those animals. He was extremely lucky to get off the way he did!
Yep. Can't stand Michael Vick - and he petitioned the court to get a dog once he was out!
I have no idea if he did or not but . . couldn't leave well enough alone.
Because they LUUURRVVE dogs. Young Black kids....hmmmm, not so much.
Can we please stop with this drivel? Speaking as a black male living in Baltimore, I must say that we (blacks) seem to value black life even less. We take life just as fast as we make it, and there are several black males not very far from where I'm typing who are depositing their seeds and abandoning the child that results, as well as encouraging "no snitching" when one black chooses to end the life of another.
So, let's quit perpetuating the "victim" mentality. Until blacks can show that we value the lives of those who resemble us as much as we are demanding from whites, I don't want to hear this regurgitated bullcrap.
What are you missing here: one was found guilty, one was not. Had Zimmerman been found guilty he would have served a lot longer than Vick served. And btw, Vick killed a few more than a few dogs and he fought dogs as well. I didn't want him dead, I really doubt anyone did. I don't have a clue where you are getting that information. What he did was cruel and against the law. What Zimmerman did was horrible, but at this stage we have to accept the verdict: It is not guilty. He was defending himself against someone who was beating the heck out of him.
how many times do these same topics have to come up? TM was not a child, he was unarmed, that much is right, he also was beating someone up and I am so tired of the race card thing.
True. Vick was found guilty and Zimmerman was not.
The jury has spoken; while I don't agree with their decision; I think they tried to do the best they could with the set of facts that they had. They shouldn't be vilified.
I wish that our country wouldn't politicize the Martin case quite so much. I think it's good that we went through with a trial; everyone knows Trayvon's name and story; and despite all the haters - the Martin family has gotten a lot of prayers and good thoughts too. That has to help deal with the death of their child.
I don't like to see people that are happy and cheerful that this young boy is dead. That, I cannot understand. A little empathy is called for. The media has put 400 years worth of race relations square on their shoulders - not sure they wanted that either - at least not by their comments to date.
It would be nice if our country could have a civil discussion about: SYG, racial profiling; the fate and futures of young black men and what we could ALL do to make things better.
Interesting stuff. It seems that many white people value the lives of dogs more than those of blacks. It makes you think.
As long as we're making inane comparisons, what about Plaxico Burress? He had it even worse than either Vick or Zimmerman; after all he got shot (by himself). Was it racism? Maybe he was, as libs like to say, a 'self-loathing' black? Maybe it was even Bush's fault? It happened after Obama was elected, but prior to the inauguration. It makes you think.....
There was tons of evidence in regards to the illegal activities of Michael Vick, including a' 'rape stand'...
So, when dog breeders use these devises they are commonly referred to as breeding stands. But, when a dog fighter possesses one, it's a .... lol... "rape" stand? Really? Rape?
Rape (noun) - The crime of forcing another PERSON to submit to sex acts, especially sexual intercourse.
This rape stand thing makes me wonder as to whether the male dogs ever realized the female dogs were being forced against their will, especially given all the whining and howling taking place. And, if so, I have to wonder why the male dogs themselves didn't exercise better judgement and moral restraint. Which brings me to this - maybe it wasn't entirely Michael Vick's fault, after all.
Lastly, the thing that's really crazy about the whole Vick case is how, everyday, millions of us sit back and eat slaughtered animals like it's nothing. But, kill a dog, and you should be locked away for life? Talk about a double standard.
There's no question who got a worse sentence. Vick got 2 years. Zimmerman didn't get one.
To some degree they both used terrible judgement.
