What aggression. The prosecution never submitted any evidence that Z acted in an aggressive manner. That would be because he didn't.

That girl was just ASKING to be raped because she was pretty...

Exactly how far HAVE you liberals devolved?

Trayvon Martin's right to defend himself against an aggressive and armed stalker should have been the cornerstone of the state's case. In addition, Zimmerman should have been charged with manslaughter, as opposed to murder--which requires a higher standard of proof. The late addition of manslaughter as a potential charge had little effect once this became a "murder" case within the media circus.

Everyone should have a right to protect themselves, but these "stand your ground" laws are in serious need of revision. At the very least, an individual who initiates a confrontation (in this case, George Zimmerman), should be deemed to have abrogated the right of self-defense when his intended victim fights back.
If you are beating someone up while you are on top of them then you are no longer in defense mode. Especially if neighbors tell you to stop.

I'm beginning to think the prosecutors had a little "persuasion" from the Justice Department to throw the case. You figure they benefit from rabble rousing and trying to generate public sentiment against guns. Plus they can go back to the old racism well. Nice little diversion from looming economic problems or other current scandals.
It will fail since the public is just not with them. Still, it does make this administration seem even more unfeeling and draconian and clandestine than ever.
Our right to fair trials by jury are now under attack by these mobsters. Add that to rights of free speech, the right to own and bear arms, the right to vote, the right to privacy, the right to be safe from unlawful search and seizure. Nothing is safe from them.

The evidence was clear Trayvon was doing the attacking. Zimmerman was trying to defend himself, which is apparently not allowed if your being attacked by a black man.

Let's look at what each of these men could have done to avoid Trayvon Martin's death:

Martin:

Could have been caucasian---this is, of course a non-sequitur .

Could have reasoned that going to the store for some candy might induce an armed Barney Fife-wannabe into following and confronting him---no human being should have to be worried about such a thing happening.

Could have calmly allowed an ominous stranger to aproach him and do whatever that stranger wanted to do to him---not very conducive to the self-preservation instinct.

Zimmerman:

Could have stayed home and watched TV, as opposed to playing Mr. policeman.

Could have observed Martin's actions without carrying a firearm.

Could have stayed in his vehicle after notifying 911 of Martin's "suspicious" behavior.

This entire incident was precipitated by Zimmerman's reckless, hero-comlex behavior. It was enabled by ridiculous state gun legislation, and fortified by ingrained racial stereotyping of young black men.

A read through the various related threads on this forum makes it clear that a sizeable portion of those posting are quite unconcerned by the tragic homicide of a teenager who was minding his own business, by a self-appointed vigilante who was doing anything but.

The ONLY thing that needed to be done to avoid this was TM NOT assault GZ! It's REALLY that simple!
