I am from a very anti-gun state (NY). I have never fired a gun, or been around one at all really. My knowledge on gun ownership and responsibility is therefore, very limited, and I have no problem admitting such. I may have opinions on what a responsible gun owner should behave like, but having no experience I could be incorrect due to my ignorance on the topic.
My question is, if you CCW, do think you have more of a responsibility to avoid confrontation than someone who doesn't? Also, do you think George Zimmerman's actions that night were reckless, and therefore detrimental to those who responsibly CCW?
Well I am different from Zimmerman in that I avoid confrontations whenever possible. But if I was assaulted as he was then I would defend myself. I do understand that Zimmerman was trying to be a good citizen in his community. Perhaps all Americans should also try to be good citizens. A frequent question on many forums is how safe an area is, so crime must be on many people's mind. I am concerned that National Black organizations and others are so intend on spreading and teaching hate. I think this hate climate plus drug use caused Trayon to attack. That attack required Zimmerman to defend himself. The very last thing we want to do is shoot someone.
For you lefties, please do not take this quote above as a responsible gun owner....
Really? A responsible gun owner would avoid a situation allowing an ambush like TM used, such that TM couldn't close the distance within the minimal time for firing range (many use 21 feet). George Zimmerman got real lucky. He allowed an attacker that was larger and more athletic than he was to take him to the ground. By comparing the two based on body size and activity, TM should've beat the @@@@ out of Z and had total control of the situation. And depending on attacker...since TM was intent on initiating an assault, who's to say he wouldn't have used Z's gun against Z. Then you have a dead Z and an armed TM. Zimmerman is the irresponsible gun owner...part of owning a gun is ensuring that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands which can be bad for the 'previous owner' and other innocent people. Hesitation is what gets a lot of people killed with their own weapons.

Drug uses? now MJ (something which a large portion of the world smokes) makes you violent? I thought it did the exact opposite?
Hate climate? I think that the "hate climate" that caused Zimmerman, who you admit didn't avoid the confrontation, to initiate a conflict because a black kid looked and was dressed a certain way caused a Travon to be killed.
So you think people can't die from punches to the head? People do believe crazy things, but they are not the people that you expect.
Only in America will people condone killing someone over a fist fight...
