Kind of ironic to fight violence with violence.

I live in la so hopefully this won't carry on too long or spread..
The overwhelming majority of protests have been peaceful. Maybe if people were more concerned with justice, they wouldn't have to be concerned with anger at injustice.

He was, by his own admission, ON HIS WAY TO TARGET!!! He did not go outside, "forgetting" that he had his gun, to patrol the freaking neighborhood!

What I would really like to see, and of course never will, is a timeline from when he saw Trayvon to when he called the police. If indeed he called the police immediately upon seeing Trayvon, without a second thought, he over-reacted.

well, he must have been watching Trayvon for quite a while, b/c he said Trayvon was walking in and out of the properties....
also, didn't he have two calls into 911 that night?

This "Neighborhood Watch" thing has always gotten up my nose.

Zimmerman claims that he was not performing neighborhood watch that evening and was on his way to Target. Facts are he HAD to claim that because anyone who is on patrol for neighborhood watch is specifically prohibited from carrying a weapon. He is also trained not to follow, pursue, or otherwise confront any suspects. His only job is to observe and report. He apparently broke all the rules of the neighborhood watch that evening that he himself started.

To Quote from the link

To understand this encounter, it's necessary to understand the purpose of a neighborhood watch. The National Sheriff's Association created the National Neighborhood Watch program in 1972. An organized neighborhood watch may engage in various activities, including citizen patrols. According to the Neighborhood Watch Manual produced by USAonwatch.org:

Patrol members should be trained by law enforcement. It should be emphasized to members that they do not possess police powers and they shall not carry weapons or pursue vehicles. They should also be cautioned to alert police or deputies when encountering strange activity. Members should never confront suspicious persons who could be armed and dangerous.

Here's the transcript:

Transcript of George Zimmerman's Call to the Police

I don't know how you get "quite a while" from that. He could have sized up TM in 10 seconds. You don't have to observe someone very long to see that they're "walking around, looking about".

Default Pro Trayvon Rioters Prove the Need to Carry a Gun

You can't argue with facts. Here's a dose of them for the gun grabbers. (Partial article posted. Continued at link.)

Pro-Trayvon Rioters Prove The Need To Carry a Gun

The headlines at The Drudge Report over the last few days demonstrate the valid need for private gun ownership. So, naturally, President Obama pushed for the exact opposite.

Making yet another pitch for gun control on Monday, Obama said, "We should ask ourselves if we're doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis."

A better question to ask ourselves is from where and from whom the gun violence in America is specifically coming.

Liberals, Puritans when it comes to racial realities, see it as taboo to point out that most gun homicides in America are committed by a certain race of people, a race that exists in very high numbers in cities like Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, and Washington, D.C. These cities also make the top-10 list of highest gun-homicide rates.

It is the way this particular race has reacted to the George Zimmerman trial that vindicates Second Amendment activists.

To wit:
  • Large groups of that race gathered in Oakland, CA, on Sunday night to protest (read: cause destruction of private property) the verdict of Not Guilty for Zimmerman
  • Zimmerman's parents are in hiding because they have been receiving many death threats. This is according to them, but I have no reason to doubt the claim.
  • A white jogger was abducted by three members of that race in Mississippi. Before bludgeoning him into unconsciousness, they told him, "This is for Trayvon!"
  • In Baltimore, a witness to the beating of a Hispanic man at the hands of a group of young members of this race said that the attackers repeated the refrain: "This is for Trayvon!"
  • A business in Chester County, PA, was graffitied with the imperative "Kill Zimmerman" spray-painted in red on the front façade--and not even artistically. The building was then set on fire
Someone pointed out that America ranks third, worldwide, in gun homicides, but that if you exclude homicides from the aforementioned "that race"-populated cities of Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, and Washington, D.C., America falls only behind three other countries. Depending on who you ask, there are 195 countries, give or take a few. Remove those four cities from the balance, and we're somewhere around 192nd, worldwide, in gun homicides. That's an excellent record.

And most of the victims of that gun violence are also members of "that race." Specifically, young male ones.

Your solution, apparently, is to make sure that all young male members of "that race" (in addition to everyone else) carry concealed guns. Right?
