My now 15 yo old daughter has had here own gun since she was 5. A 410 shotgun.
She has a scoped Browning wood stock 223, and the 30 round mag, to go with it, that she deer hunts with since she was 10.
She has a 38 special for when she goes bow hunting and the over aggressive Hog, if needed.
She wants a black powder musket, now.
They are hers. The stay in her closet gun safe.
My sons hunted with their own rifles and shot guns from the time they entered their teens.
Not every teen is raised in some hood and reckless.
you have to be 21 to own a handgun, so I think the minimum CC age should be 21. I also think you should have to be 21 to serve in combat or vote as well. The responsibility factor between an 18 year old and a 21 year old is huge for most people.
No 17 yr olds don't need a gun, they do have the right to own one though, carrying it around is another story.....but the rest of us have every right to a CCW!

I really do try to avoid the partisan hackery, but what is it with the misguided thinking from those on the left that think that if they were to take away all of the guns in America that crime would just magically disappear? Do they honestly think that those with malicious intent are going to just hand over their guns as well? If there is a major gun grab in this country, guess what tool will be used to take the guns from American citizens? GUNS!!! The very thing that they fear, and hate! Ironic, ain't it??? Furthermore, why do progressives find it acceptable that people should be victims instead of being able to defend themselves? People who intend to do harm to others have no value for human life, including their own! Otherwise, they wouldn't commit crime! I do value human life, as well as my own. But no way in hell am I going to allow myself to be a victim from some scumbag who doesn't care about himself and is willing to try and cause harm to myself or my family!!!
Any person, which includes those under the age of 18, who owns and carries a gun and does no harm to anyone else should not be criminalized. The entire concept repulses me.

Indeed. The norm in the current regime is punishing the many for the transgressions of the few, in this case meaning that because some teenagers are wild beasts no teenager may own a gun. The end result is that the wild beasts continue being wild and carry guns illegally, and the teenagers who do handle guns responsibly are made into criminals.
