Booker T.'s comments would have held truer, If African's were like every other racial/ethnic group who immigrated to America. If Africans had immigrated, most likely they would have not initially been accepted. Africans would have to have worked, as other groups did, to assimulate into American society.
Booker T's observation would have been more true if the American playing field was as level for Afircans as it was for other ethnic groups that immigrated to America.
Mr. Washington's assessment fails to take in account the damage done to the American psyche of 300 years of slavery of the African peoples. Damage to the American psyche that continues to this very day.
in your mind it does
slaves ended 300 years ago and you keep harping like it happened to you
it did not
Africans, my ass
where were you born??
Oh Please. Citing a centuries old quote and applying it to a teenager who was shot while walking home is ludicrous. Nothing what so ever to do with Trayvon Martin's death at the hands of George Zimmerman.
Quit trying to justify an unjustifiable act.
TM was NOT shot while walking home. He was shot while assaulting another person. Get it right or look ignorant. Up to you.
