That's exactly what is wrong with the laws in states like Florida...that someone can provoke a fight, then kill the person they provoked and then claim self-defense so long as there are no witnesses and to do it with no review by a group of their peers. That's probably what would have happened in the Zimmerman case if not for the public outcry for a trial. The jury has spoken and the outcome accepted by most of us, even those of us who didn't agree. Now it's time to broaden the debate to changing/tweaking the laws before we turn back into the Wild, Wild West. The continued assassination of Martin and Zimmerman's characters is just wheel spinning.

Default Reaction to Zimmerman's verdict breaks along idealogical lines more than racial ones...

i don't want to go over the Zimmerman verdict anymore, but discuss the (macro-scale) reactions to the verdict. We've all witnessed the vast difference in reaction to the verdict and those reactions did cut across racial lines but I think it was more about ideological lines which happen to correspond greatly with race in this country.

reaction to the OJ verdict was more of a racial phenomena, and many people (particularly white people) did not understand that the vast majority of blacks were reacting to the horrendous ‘racial’ tactics of the LAPD (Mark Furman’s remarks and use of the n word for example) and their notorious history (which significantly affected the verdict by casting doubt on the evidence); than to the acquittal of someone who most likely killed two people…

Not exactly sure why people want to harass this 70 year old preacher
this is what happens when someone has the same name as a high profile defendant. the people doing the harassing dont take the time to check to see if they have the right person or not. this is typical of the low information idiot that reacts to what they hear on tv. they get angry and vent their anger on the wrong people. this has happened many times over the decades, so it is nothing new.

Amazing people have this much time to go around threatening others.....seems if some where arrested and made to do community service they just might find another hobby.

Wonder how many are being paid to carry on the hate.....

I don't know why you keep saying that GZ provoked a fight. He couldn't have possibly provoked a fight when he is the person with the head and face injuries. Why don't you look at TM and ask why he had such a horrible temper that he would sucker punch GZ instead of just questioning why GZ was following him or simply just yell at him and then walk home? Why don't we look at TM breaking GZ's nose, and banging his head into the concrete. That is some kind of temper, which isn't easy to overlook.

The laws are just fine. Now we need to broaden the debate and talk about TM's character. The one that is different than what the media and his family are portraying as an innocent, little child with Skittles. Once we get into that, we can understand fully about that night and the person behind TM. We might even get into the black culture, which was apparent on this Twitter and FB posts. The culture that needs to change more than the Florida law.
