Yet you don't account for the extra Border Patrol nor do you even know if the fence will be effective. It won't be without the extra Border Patrol, which would cost about an extra 40 billion, so now you are at 100 billion. U.S. border 'surge' would place agent every 1,000 feet | Reuters Furthermore, that 200 billion figure is debatable at best.

Plus, there's no guarantee it'll work. Do fiscal conservatives take 100 billion dollar risks? Nope. Fools certainly do, though.

I guess if the shoe fits.

Which is still cheaper than the cost of illegal aliens. Don't forget all those union jobs democrats love building the fence and border patrol. This does not take into account the affect on illegal drugs.

Why not, we "allow" foreign nationals not born on U.S. soil to become citizens...

One group passes a test and pays fees, the other does not.

Yet you are assuming it will work. Ever hear of these things called "tunnels"? Also, there's no chance in hell Republicans will increase Border Patrol like that because it is a union job. It'd be too much fodder for Democrats as they will most certainly turn that against Republicans as an example of how union jobs improve communities.

So, explain to me how the GOP gets out of this Catch-22?

All many republicans try to do is increase border patrol. You are really reaching on hiring government workers increases communities thing.

What do you think is easier to do, walk across a border without a fence or dog a tunnel hundreds of yards long?
