I'm saying Detroit has plenty of government dependency. Are you saying that the presence of 3-4 military bases would've prevented this and that these two Republican cities aren't well-run? Apparently there is a positive correlation between extremely well-run cities and military bases per you. So I guess we can just plop 3 or 4 military bases in Detroit and call it a day. Thank god you've found the solution for urban decay.
Uh, no. What he's trying to say is that with several military bases located in Virginia Beach/Norfolk, the military personnel are going to pump money into the economy because of their steady paychecks. From the lowly E-1 to the high ranking O-8/O-9, the money they get every two weeks will be spent and force the flow of cash to get going at a better rate. It also helps that Virginia Beach is a major tourism spot since the tourist industry is pretty strong as well.
I would know because I've lived in Virginia Beach for 17 years, 4 of which was while I served in the US Navy being stationed in Norfolk and living near the base and back in Virginia Beach. The military bases are a strong leg to stand on economically, so he's correct in his assessment. You're just being snarky because he proved his point and you don't agree.
A smart person would. Hokie doesn't seem real smart, so that explains it.
