Republicans are very much like Islamists. Both view women as being unable to think for themselves or have the same rights as men, but more importantly, both Islamists and Republicans use religion as a tool to control their largely poorly educated and often illiterate voting base.
The similarities between the support for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and the Republican Party in the U.S. is quite striking, both rely on poorly educated rural masses to elect them based on adherence to religiosity.
On Wednesday, a Norwegian expat was sentenced to 16 months in jail by a court in the United Arab Emirates after she reported being raped. Twenty-five year-old Marte Deborah Dalelv was charged for having extramarital sex, drinking alcohol without a license and perjury.
Dalelv who was allegedly raped in March and says police confiscated her passport and imprisoned her for four days after she reported the incident. She has since sought refuge in a Norwegian church in Dubai.
I would have expected this case to happen in Saudi Arabia, but not so in the so called progressive Arab city of Dubai.
What Western person in their right mind would vacation/live in a muslim country? I feel sorry for her. I hope that the outside pressure forces the gov't to release her.

Gee, and yet it was Obama who sent and continued to send the Muslim Brotherhood led Egyptian government billions in US dollars, even after it became quite clear they were abusing power, not respecting law, and enabling extremists to murder and torture Egyptian non-Muslims.

You might, just for the record, check to see who at the White House has been entertaining the Muslim Brotherhood and showing his support, along with his administration, for the Muslim Brotherhood since 2008. Why, he's almost an honorary member of the MB.

... And honorary membership of the Black Panthers; both Obama and Holder... After Holder dropped all charges relating to the Black Panther Philly voter intimidation case. The DOJ was actually in the midst of plea deals and Holder stepped in and yanked all charges.

There are over 40,000 US citizens living in Dubai/Abu Dhabi. You don't read about them violating UAE law. Over 240,000 British expats in the UAE.
