Suppose you agree with most of the Libertarian Party platform, but believe some things are public goods (such as education, healthcare, transportation, etc.) and therefore believe that these items need some governmental oversight - mostly at the local/state level, but minimally at the federal level as well. Also, you don't agree with abolishing the IRS. But otherwise, your views fit better with the Libertarian Party than they do with the Republicans or Democrats. Do the Libertarians require ideological purity for their support, or can people have slightly but not horrendously different opinions from the party platform and still be welcomed?

Politically, Libertarian is a good place to start. Probably the only requirement to be a Libertarian might be to be able to think for yourself.

A compromise ith the lesser of two evils is still a compromise with evil.

No. Pure ideologies lead to dead ends.

Few libertarians believe things like education, roads etc should end. They don't believe they should be directed out of Washington.

The short answer is no.

But that's no different from any other party.

Yes, they do. In fact, they used to debate (they may still) whether members of the Party should have to agree to the non-coercion principle in order to retain membership.

No, the furthest thing from it, kind of like how Ayn Rand ran her cult of objectivists precisely how Stalin operated, save for sending anyone to Siberia.
