These two guys thought they were more important than they are. They thought they should have had more access and influence on the President than they do and have been mad and bitter about it since they learned the truth. They thought that Obama was going to be a Black President who would push a Black agenda and they would have major influence. It hasn't worked out that way and they are bitter. I told y'all from the start that Barack Obama was not going to be The President of Black People. He was going to be and is The President of the United States.

I think people are just sick of Tavis Smiley, Cornel West and their hurt feelings. These guys have no one but themselves to blame for their arrogance and misconceptions.
^^^^^^^^^^
This.....a little history.....Tavis was a HUGE Hillary supporter, and he had visions of grandeur about his place in a Clinton administration. When it became clear Obama would be the nominee, Tavis thought he wielded a lot of power. Obama has not played ball with him, and he has been pissed ever since. In his eyes, everything Obama does is wrong.

Or solely on the behalf of Black people, but I think the celebration was due to socio-historical realities in terms of overcoming those realities.

I LOVE Smiley. He's intelligent, he's not afraid of anyone, and yet he's classy.

Yep. I think they have been getting quite the backlash lately. People are getting increasingly fed up.

I am all for criticizing the President. Presidents wield too much power not to be under serious scrutiny. But Cornell and Tavis were basically expecting Obama to be SuperNegro, solving all black folks problems single handedly (they seem to forget Presidents don't simply do whatever they want), as well as making speeches about race and racism regularly from the Oval Office. Um, no. Plus the criticisms have been nasty in tone, full of personal shots and usually centering around Obama not being "black" enough. They have gotten beyond annoying.

Which is not to say that they don't have a point sometimes. But the point is buried in a lot of nastiness usually.

No - it's this simple - Obama is NOT an ultra liberal.

Obama is a pragmatic moderate who is pro-choice and pro gay-marriage, which to some translates into being a Bolshevik.

But supposedly the FBI busted in on him, played his taped conversation to him, and gave him an ultimatum. That is... Sharpton agreed to work as a snitch for the FBI.

Tavis is a more straight-laced guy. He's very articulate and the kind of guy if sent into an African country like Liberia would be a fairly honest politician (assuming one could start over in that nation from scratch). But Sharpton is the kind of guy that is going to be tied up with Colombian cartel, Nigerian crime circles, Italian gangsters, and talking a "Church" and "Blackness" while covertly working for the CIA.
Wow, I rarely see so many false accusations in one post. If I'm wrong provide a credible source!
