After 12+ years, I think it would be interesting to see what percentage of New Yorkers (represented on this page) believe that 9/11 was an inside job. This poll is completely anonymous, so feel free to post your real feeling regarding this issue without anyone knowing how you responded:
A real, genuine, "inside job"? I doubt it. I'd vote for your third option, but the "how dare you question our Government?" part doesn't allow for a voter to believe that al-Qaeda did it without also being a deluded hyper-patriot.
What I do believe is that the government (both W's and Obama's) have taken full advantage of the incident to take away people's civil liberties and move several steps further to the totalitarian police state that somehow seems to be seen as inevitable. It amazes me in how many small ways, very far removed from genuine terrorism, society has let "security" stomp all over even basic human dignity. Not just the shoe removal at the airport and the infamous "nude-o-scopes" but even the plethora of places where you're now expected to be carrying government-issued identification. The way I learned it, you kept valuable papers like that in a locked fireproof safe at your house. But the vague hand-wavy "it keeps us safe" mantra is invoked any time someone demands their civil liberties.
