He must be tired of the 26 lawsuits TX has filed against the Federal govt. Didn't the Supreme Court already rule on this issue ?

News from The Associated Press

Quote:
In a speech to the Urban League in Philadelphia, the attorney general said the Justice Department is asking a federal court in San Antonio to require the state of Texas to obtain approval in advance before putting future voting changes in place.
Quote:
Holder said that based on evidence of intentional racial discrimination presented last year in the redistricting case in Texas, "we believe that the state of Texas should be required to go through a preclearance process whenever it changes its voting laws and practices."

This administration hasn't liked Texas since day 1.

Glad to see our Texas tax dollars take on these guys. If Texas falls to this administration the others will fall in line.

It's worth every penny to fight for our state rights.

I don't expect that to change anytime soon. Though they should love us, we have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country.

He makes George Mitchell look like Mother Teresa.

Apparently Holder is overruling the SCOTUS now.

States must still abide by federal law. Instituting voting laws and redistricting that is discriminatory violates the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the feds are well within their rights to step in and enforce it.

I think you need to read the constitution and the most recent ruling by SCOTUS re the VRA.

Well aware of the SCOTUS decision. There are other sections of the act that are still applicable and enforceable (other than preclearance) preventing states/cities/etc from introducing discriminatory voting laws/districts.
