While it might be CONSTITUTIONAL, is isn't ethical to ignore your own population and crumbling infrastructure to keep a war machine going and then complain about future budget problems and raising debt ceilings.

America and citizens would benefit greatly if money were spent here at home before spending it somewhere else, on machines to kill people with. And then abandon and destroy the war machines later.

I am for keeping the retirement/health insurance promises to ALL veterans (FWIW- I am one 'NAM 66-67). However we have to stop borrowing money to sustain an unsustainable Empire that protects more foreign investors and companies than just American. Unless we can charge the international investment class for protecting their, but not our, interests we will go broke.

If we do cut our spending for our empire by withdrawing our forces as well as stopping boondoggles like the F-35 project and building more aircraft carriers then we have admirals what do we do after the contractors shut down. If we stopped building ships in Louisiana or airplanes in California the unemployment would skyrocket and the local cities forced to bankrupt. I know cutting our military spending to just the amount needed for defending our own country would be a shock to the economy but it might also allow those companies and workers to build other products without being on the government dole.

Retrain those people to do other jobs, possibly repairing infrastructure, and for the tekkies, give 'em jobs in planning departments drafting higher tech roads, bridges, electric grid and other projects.

I see the vote was 315 to 109.

Are there 315 Republicans and 109 Democrats in the House ?
Did all the Democrats vote NO ?

As long as Democrats voted in favor of this bill then they have to take some blame as well.

Please show me where it says the federal government has the power to spend on social programs.
The first sentence in the same section you quoted.

"Section. 8.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;"

Since the 1930s, the courts have held that the general welfare clause is the legitimate basis for broad spending authority.

Thats not a massive bill in inflation adjusted dollars or percent of GDP.

The NDBA was 500 billion in 1952 in todays dollars.

As a percent of GDP it has decreased significantly since WWII

What has had the biggest increase in the last 60 years? Yeah I think you can figure that out.

They'd be spending their money here too.

I guess the left-wing religion is to also vote for it while blaming the right-wing for being in charge.

Some people are NEVER satisfied. They whine and cry claiming the repubs NEVER cut DOD spending.

Then when they do, they still whine.

Just to remind you the DoD is in the Constitution.
