Why not? The national debt was accumulated in part because of spending that went to Texas.

No it doesn't and only a fool would actually buy into this notion.

Never going to happen.

By all means, though, continue on as if you do know because I guarantee you the remainder of the population of Texas will disagree with being separated from their friends and family.
That's because you are ignorant of the economic hell that the US will suffer through and you are completely unaware of your foreign policy.

Those in Texas would thank me if they knew the truth about your nation.

I see people discussing how a state could secede. What we should be talking about is how 50 states will be able to remain united with the path we are going down.

You are the fool. Not everyone wants to join you on your fool's ship.

How about it, Texans, what does YOUR Constitution say about the Compact With The United States?
Seeing as the US Constitution trumps State constitutions, you argument is moot.

Not sure if that is possible anymore. The system and the people have become too corrupt. There is no common thread to bind people to a common purpose. Individual liberty certainly isn't a care for most people and that is really the only true binding element to which we can survive. Sure, they like to talk like they respect it, but then there are all these "conditions" they have for it driven by their self interest.

Just because it's a big state doesn't make it a good candidate to be it's own country. I think it would be a dumb move for them to suceed.
-Texas can't handle it's own border right now with government funding and help. Wonder how bad it would be without government funding.
-you know the US would slap a trade embargo on Texas and treat it like a 3rd world country just for spite. I don't think the US would invade, but I think they would make things difficult just to be vindictive. Say like North Korea or Cuba.
-Texas received over 4 billion in federal aid from agencies such as FEMA for natural disasters. Who is paying for this when the next set of hurricanes, droughts, etc hit.
-Ft Hood and Ft Bliss, all the jobs those bases created would be gone.
-Texas would need to develop government departments to handle foreign liasons. Military equipment would have to be purchased as the National Guard will no longer be sufficient with the US taking it's toys back.
-Anti-US countries may decide to use Texas as a cheap way to get back at Americans or come into the US for all their hate towards us. Since Texas would be a new country, it obviously won't have the resources or system up in place immediately to protect it's self as an isolated country.

Saw this in an article regarding this very topic: The Texans wanting succession seem to be hardcore conservatives who want
a country with: a small federal government with limited power and meager influence over the private lives of its citizens; extremely weak trade unions routinely sabotaged by the federal government (i.e., a “pro-business environment”); negligible income tax; few immigrants, legal or otherwise; a dominant Christian population, accounting for some 70 percent of the people; no mandatory health insurance or concept of universal health care; a strong social taboo surrounding homosexuality and a constitution that already states, “All individuals have the right to marry a person of their choice of the opposite sex”; and a gun culture so ubiquitous that you can find automatic weaponry displayed openly on the streets of its capital city and in many households.
Said country already exists....it's called the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
