Sorry but you are giving them an easy out with "we didn't think it would pass so we didn't bother".
Its not an easy out, it is the truth. They knew they had the votes for Obama care, not the same when it came to glass steagull.

They're just a bunch of liars, in reality they're sold out to the cheap labor lobby.
Maybe she's referring to the cheap foreign workers that are already in the country? Or will that be an additional 11-30 million needed to replace the "new Americans" who will be giving up their low wage jobs and moving up in the work force?

I've seen a lot of people who are hardworking lose EVERYTHING-and I've seen people not be touched-or have had a little blip (lay off) and are now more successful...but no one will look past themselves-if you believe a 7.8% unemployment rate-you are a fool. Also, people who are over 50, 1/2 will never be able to find decent employment again.

Yes I cannot stand Obama but I can't stand him because he hasn't done a thing to help this economy-blame, blame, blame....that's all he does
Bill Clinton's shining moment was when he signed that NAFTA and China trade deal that got rid of many millions of jobs. That's where it all started if you really paid any attention.

And what's worse, Bill and his co-president Hillary knew full well that it would destroy cities like Detroit and pull the rug out from under so many millions of Americans. They warned back then that Americans had better start competing with cheap third world workers.

Yes, of course -- the 11-30 million now working under the table and for below minimum wage will no longer have to do those jobs and couldn't work illegally any more with their new legal status. That same amnesty bill has a whole new and very large worker visa written into it that will allow millions more cheap workers to come here -- legally -- but also there is nothing being done about those who bring in illegals to work much more cheaply than Americans. Those who employ illegals don't even have to make a half-azzed attempt to hire Americans first.

All those cheap landscapers and live in nannies, lettuce pickers will be able to quit those jobs and will eagerly be grabbing up jobs in factories, stores, and every where else. They will be happy with minimum wage even if Americans gripe about it being too low. Just like the Dream Act illegals can now get in on financial aid ahead of Americans who have to go into deep debt in order to go to college.

Default Consider other options

Strange this thread only lists, Obama and Bush as the culprits to the whole American dilemma, What about the loss of millions of jobs to other countries? What about the rise of more and more automation and computerization? Also what about the fact that most modern nations also, have high unemployment?

First world nations are stagnating under debt both at a sovereign level and individual level.
The emerging countries are growing and educating their workforce and their workforce is slowly taking over.
They are the new growing consumer class because they have no debt yet.

Many people can't see beyond R vs D.

History shows that no country stays in power forever. History also shows that nations with high debt decline under that debt and never fully recover to their former glory.

OP says 4 out of 5. I say, under Obama, that number will increase to 6 out of 5.

I say it jokingly, but that, sadly, is Darth Barry's motive for our country. Government gets the spoils, and the rest of us get nothing. President plays more golf, and we end up living in a sewer.

BS.
The economy was steadily growing under Bush and unemployment was 5%.

If it was not your beloved Clinton who abolished Glass-Steagall and your beloved dimocraps, who forced the banks to lend to those which can not afford the mortgage - we would not have had the crisis of subprime mortgages and financial fall.

The real problem is the grunt jobs, high paying jobs that even the stupid can do, are going away.

HR, bookkeeping, medical/legal transcribing, preparing tax returns are all off shored now.
The internet has led to this boom.
