Good. The Fed govt has no authority to make any laws regulating anyone's right to keep and bear arms. In fact, the Constitution explicitly forbids them (and any other govt in the U.S.) from doing so.

Interesting. The Constitution says that Senators and Representatives cannot be held criminally liable for things they do as part of their official duties. I wonder if that extends to other agents of the Federal govt?

Several of Nixon’s fellow Democrats confirmed they would vote to override his veto when lawmakers convene in September....

Many of them noted that in some parts of Missouri, a “no” vote on gun legislation could be career ending.
Democracy in action. They know what would happen to them at the next election, if they didn't.

even while agreeing with the governor the bill couldn’t survive a court challenge.
Keep dreaming, Demmies.

Though with the present "courts", who knows. A lot of people felt the same about Obamacare's penalty for not signing up to that. For all we know, the Supremes would simply change the law as they did with Obamacare, and rule as though the law said what they claimed, even when it doesn't.

The legislation would make it a misdemeanor for federal agents to attempt to enforce federal gun regulations that “infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms.” The same criminal charges would apply to journalists who publish any identifying information about gun owners.
Again, interesting. Normally trying to tell the press what they can and can't write, would be a flat vioilation of the 1st amendment. But with the imaginary "right to privacy" the abortion lobby (on and off the bench) claims is in the Constitution, would that extend to this legislation?

Nixon said the bill infringes on the U.S. Constitution by giving precedence to state law over federal laws
That only applies to Federal laws Congress is authorized to make. And gun laws ain't it.

Quote:
The legislation is one of the boldest measures in a recent national trend in which states are attempting to nullify federal laws. A recent Associated Press analysis found about four-fifths of the states have enacted local laws that directly reject or ignore federal laws on gun control, marijuana use, health insurance requirements and identification standards for driver’s licenses.
Good.

Every cloud has a silver lining, and goes for the cloud of liberals infesting the government at various levels.

The silver lining is, that the more liberal you get in office, the more people start realizing what those liberals actually want to do - and how much it differs from what they say they want. And the people start voting them out in droves.

Seeing people electing liberals, is kind of like finding a guy hitting himself on the head with a hammer. You ask him why he's doing it. His reply: "Because it feels so good when I stop."

It would take days, weeks, maybe months to get the fed agents out of jail and dismiss the charges. This would happen repeatedly until the fedgov gets the message that it doesn't pay to interfere in MO affairs when it comes to gun rights.
