Same place everyone else does. The article you linked to notes that the ratio of births to unwed mothers (versus married mothers) has increased over the past twenty years. The person I replied to stated that this was the reason for "the problems in the black community". I noted that there's no correlation between the two, which greatly damages his claim.

Of course, there's another problem here - the usual criminal demographic isn't newborn babies, it's males from the early teens to their mid-20s. If the ratio of unwed parents were "the" cause of violent crime, then crime should be surging now - but it isn't.

The simple fact is, sociologists have no real explanation for why crime has fallen over the past 20 years, although they do have various theories. And unemployment and home ownership are where we expect them to be, given our historical patterns and current economics. Putting aside the fact that the mother not being married does not mean that the father is absent, you can't point to much of any statistic and blame it on "3 out of 4 blacks have no dad!!!!!"

Also, as to the statistics cited themselves, the author of the news article states that the married and unmarried birthrates for Black Women was unpublished. Moreover, since birthrates are being cited, nothing in the article takes into consideration that such numbers could be affected by abortion.

There are approximately 1.2M abortions in America per year. AA women comprise about 40.2% of those abortions; Thus, 486,420 abortions per year. Such a number severely impacts birthrate.

I have no idea what abortion has to do with much of anything. You seem to have slid from blaming unwed births for other issues, to yelling about births by unwed woman as a problem in and of itself. And saying something about "causation", even though it's you who has to supply the causation here.
