"The federal government is hiring what it calls a "Behavioral Insights Team" that will look for ways to subtly influence people's behavior, according to a document describing the program obtained by FoxNews.com. Critics warn there could be unintended consequences to such policies, while supporters say the team could make government and society more efficient. While the program is still in its early stages, the document shows the White House is already working on such projects with almost a dozen federal departments and agencies including the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture."

"Behavioral sciences can be used to help design public policies that work better, cost less, and help people to achieve their goals," reads the government document describing the program, which goes on to call for applicants to apply for positions on the team."

Gov't Knows Best? White House creates 'nudge squad' to shape behavior | Fox News

The constitution writers would puke in their respective mouths. Whose goals? The government's goals for them or their own goals? Or will the nudge team tell them what their goals are? This is scary stuff. I think I could support a Libertarian candidate in 2016.

Note the participation (Obamacare) of health and human (Obamacare) services (Obamacare). Will subliminal messages make a comeback?

Wasn't this Cass Sunstein's thing?

Obama already has a cult following similar to Jim Jones. I doubt he can recruit more.

People call anybody who is religious a fanatic but then they'll willingly do whatever the state tells them to do.

It will be interesting to see if Congress takes its 'checks and balances' role seriously.

Just another name for "propaganda".

They don't need to reinvent the wheel here. Just study Hitler's rise to power over the years.
He swayed the people to the point they gave him whatever he wanted which was dictatorial power.
He even created invisible enemies to invoke fear in the people that he could conquer for them if they put him in charge.

Default Mr Capone suggests you pay him by the end of the day

The government that uses federal agencies to squash political opposition is incapable of 'nudging'.

It is like a armed thug suggesting you hand over your valuables.

A government that dries up the ammunition supply does not 'nudge'' Their nudge is undifferentiated form binding legislation.

Of course they begin with concern for your health and then slide down that slippery slope to to control other behaviors that may pose a political threat.

A real scenario is when the FDA issues proposed regulations for the Pharma industry. That is a clear signal every company had better make the proposed changes or be vulnerable to an audit and cited for any infractions.

Geez, all they have to do is hire a couple of TV advertising firms.

Be careful, or I may report you to Obama's "Attack Watch" website for criticizing his behavior control program.

Obama is America and America is Obama!

I think they've already been doing this for a while.

Tell anyone you didn't get your "annual flu shot" and you're treated like a leper.
