Cronyism differs from industry to industry and variation depends on the extent to which a field is regulated, and, especially, on whether government is a major payer (as in medical and hospital care) or can give or withhold the permission literally to exist (as in mining or energy production). Wall Street firm will contribute millions to the election because it dares not risk lacking “access” to the White House and Congress. The media is just a lap dog for Obama for the same reason.

The “investment” has nothing to do with innovation, production, or meeting demands of customers. It may be buying protection against political power in exactly the way a restaurant owner in Brooklyn must buy “protection” when the mob comes seeking a cut of his profits. Or it may be buying the political influence to shape regulations and taxes in ways that give it an advantage over competitors.

You do realize that small businesses are competitors of big business right?

Naive people, who hate big business and bankers are the very people who cheered and voted for Obama, cheered as he increased taxes on the little guy, (big businesses competitors). And then there is Warren Buffet who "invests in big business" to make more money. And you thought they cared. LOL, very naive.

Oh they say yes they should pay more but do everything to avoid it. The big guys, "cronies" easily avoid those taxes.

That about sums it up that our leaders are corporate prostitutes but the people must love them by re electing them. Your 2nd paragragh is a insult to the Wall street bankers since they grease palms on both sides of the aisle. That is what democracy smells like.

A small business owner must buy "protection" when the government seeks a cut of his profit. Otherwise they go to jail. Obama just wanted more protection money.

And the Obama cult cheered!

Apparently, a large plurality of Americans know this and are sick of it. They do not call it “capitalism” because it is not capitalism—and because they respect the historic benefits of wealth and liberty that capitalism delivers.

No, they call it “crony capitalism.”

Yep but Obama lied and said he would be different.

I call it whoring for power. We have political whores prescribing how the rest of us should live, rather than working to protect our rights. They are elected to speak for us. This seems to be lost on Americans.

On top of this, they rarely follow their own prescriptions.

The political elites are above such mundane chores (representing us) because multi-national corporations are so much more lucrative.

Quote: I can make a firm pledge, under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.

So much for promises from politicians, even if they are mulatto and from da' hood. A politician from either major party no longer has a connection to the masses, just the perception of a connection. Obama is as white as any politician in recent history, if skin color is a benchmark for anything.

Well I call it fascism and it has been alive and well for many years now. I wish people were fed up! to me it is we just except it as the norm. We instead get caught up in the game and just pick a team.

I do not put too much stock into what the leaders say I choose to go over their record with a fine tooth comb because it tells the real story.

Excellent post. Being raised by a white mother and white grandparents who provided Obama a very nice standard of living, living the most impressive years in Indonesia, a muslim country, connection to the poor and middle class and black community is an impression Obama worked hard on to deceive voters into supporting him and they fell for the farce.

And then they defend Obama when he raises taxes on the middle class. I'll bet his supporters could sure use those couple of hundred dollars now. Anytime they can't feed their family a decent meal, struggle to pay bills they should think about Obama and his daughter jetting around the country and congress who fixed the health care for themselves but just took off for another vacation without fixing health care for Americans.
