I suggest if you like stealing you stay out of Texas. She had time to tell her story. She lived for months, paralyzed from the neck down, after the shooting.

And he should be charged for engaging illegal activity... still does not give them the right to steal...

The jury had the power to nullify that ridiculous law, but as it was comprised of Texans, it chose not to.

I don't think this law should have been used to protect him.

His life was not in danger. Sure there was theft, but it didn't threaten his life.

I think the law needs to be changed ..theft when your life is threatened.
I disagree HappyTexan, the protection of property is important. Removing such only ends up protecting theft and lets be honest, people know better than to steal from another. I don't think we should burden the victims by placing more and more conditions of consideration for those that would disregard the liberty of another. Those who want to continue stealing... well... they know the risks, they can deal with the consequences.

Like I said, if you don't like it, don't come to Texas and if you do, don't steal from another. It isn't difficult to not steal.

Self defense and defense of property often results in death to the perpetrator. The first shot is often a kill shot.

It isn't punishment, it is consequence. A consequence that is completely avoided by simply not stealing from someone.
