Oh Lord..I'm on the "fertilizer list" and I did google how they turned a pressure cooker into a bomb after the story came out.
In must be i have a garden, and drive a diesel truck. My wife has 2 pressure cookers, and i hunt to put meat on the table. We also back pack and camp out in 3 seasons, all but summer, when it's just too hot. We each own 3 back packs.
Under the covers at night, i sometimes pull the sheets up over her head and let go a BOMB
I fear it will be a long drive to come here if they want to talk. I am sure I won't be in that mood, and they will leave with this http://www.incnf.org/publicservantquest.htm
More like:
1) Get dismissed by your employer
2) Former employer checks your workplace computer and find searches for "pressure cooker bombs" and "backpacks"
3) Former employer contacts the police
4) Blame Google when the cops show up.
It really bothers me that pressure cookers being linked to terrorism only.
Before the Boston event, and even today, one of the ways to cook up Meth or Mushrooms was in a pressure cooker. Sticks of dynamite were cut open and used as well and they are highly explosive and very dangerous. On the street, they are called "bombs" and they are often cooking in moving vehicles or in backpacks because the odor is more difficult to trace.
That they are now "WMDs" and treated as though they are a new method of terrorism rather than potential drug paraphernalia really disturbs me because it seems more of a misdirection or truth to create headlines in order to feed the fear that a ton of people are creating bombs, and that we need more security.
Drug task forces know the connection, but most lay people do not. It seems creepy to me and has given me this look on my face ever since the Boston bombing.
What if we charge drug users in the future for a terrorist crime?
By the way, I google pressure cookers and read posts on the Meth sites to learn how they make it on the streets. I don't do meth and would never attack or plan an attack here or anywhere in the world.
I also google wild and random stuff, too. Often, as another poster mentioned, to check on whether something is fact or fiction. Some of it is curiosity ... I once googled "fisting" after an article asserted that a high school sex education class included that in their curriculum. You know, you can't un-google something. In this particular case, I wished I could.
