Peter Shih's reasons for hating San Francisco include:

He forgot Nancy Pelosi as well!

  • The weather. "I hate how the weather here is like a woman who is constantly PMSing," he writes. "I hate how I can't tell the difference between August and February."
  • The 49ers, but not the football team. "I'm referring to all the girls who are obviously 4's and behave like they are 9's," he writes. "Just because San Francisco has the worst Female to Male ratio in the known universe doesn't give you the right to be a b*tch all the time."
  • Homeless people. "I'm seriously tempted to start f*cking with people and pay for homeless guys to ride the Powell street cable cars in the middle of the da, that ought to get the city's attention," he says.
  • Crime occurring way too close to "upstanding citizens." "Imagine taking The Bronx and just having it take a sh*t in the middle of Manhattan, that's kinda what the Tenderloin is like all the time," he says.

Sounds like a New Yorker that never should have left New York. I can sympathize, I am a Portlander who is trying to live in New York but belongs in Portland.

There's going to be a bunch of soiled liberal panties over this one until this guy loses his job.

Why? It's an opinion, and a rather meaningless one at that.

Why? Just because it is a liberal city doesn't mean every liberal will like living there.

What's the point of this? I hear negative opinions of my city all the time.

"Peter Shih reveals another big problem with San Francisco: the built-in misogyny, bigotry, and selfishness of the empowered tech class. Peter Shih is not the biggest problem, by any means, but he's the most recently visible."

"I think the problem a lot of people have with the techies is the lack of engagement. One of the things that stuck out as particularly douchey is his rant about crime happening where 'normal people' can be found. That's the problem - they want to isolate themselves from everything but money and other techies.

They work in special office campuses hidden away and sealed off from the city. They get there in special busses just for them. They hang out in places most of us can't afford. If they go to a Giants game, they sit in sealed-off opulence in skyboxes."
