I only know about quinoa thru my reading of running mags. It's a South American grain ('pseudo-grain, per Wikipedia) that is high in protein, calcium, and magnesium, and iron. Just what a distance runner needs. I haven't tried it yet, but I probably will, one of these days.

A mom named Michele Catalano was apparently looking on-line for pressure cookers for cooking of quinoa. This provoked a raid by feds in 3 black SUVs. They poked around for 45 minutes, and left after deciding that there was no terrorist threat. "What the hell is quinoa," they wanted to know. They said that they do these raids about 100 times per week, and 99 are fruitless.

If and when I do try quinoa, it will be a cash-only purchase. I don't need to be raided by 3 black SUVs. It's one more telltale indicator that Edward Snowden was indeed a hero and Charles Schumer remains Chuck the schm**k.

Of course it's fruitless. Quinoa's a grain, not a fruit.

Quinoa is actually very yummy. (And doesn't need a pressure cooker to cook it, necessarily).

i can see it now, the feds come up with form 4474 that you have to fill out every time you want to buy a pressure cooker. then you have to pass a background check. this is getting stupid.
