Video Shows Male Davenport Cop Beating Female Shoplifter in Iowa
Brandie Redell was hit about the head and face by an officer while being questioned about shoplifting, in video obtained by NBC5 Investigates and Better Government Association
I am coming up short on sympathy for the shop lifter. The cops were out of line and should be fired. That said no one likes a thief except for maybe their lawyers.
The one thing we need to remember........There are 2 million people arrested every year for shoplifting so despite what some will try and claim this is anything but the norm.
The biggest problem here is the officer still has his job. It's obvious he doesn't have the temperament for the job.

How can assault be seen in any way as a justifiable response to shoplifting? Yes she stole some crap so punish her accordingly by banning her from the store, fining her, putting her picture up on the wall of shame, whatever.
But physically assaulting her is crossing a boundary and responses that say she kinda sorta had it coming are the reason why this continues to happen.
I never said it was justified. In fact I said the cops should be fired. I did say I am short on sympathy. A thief is a thief. When you commit a crime bad things happen sometimes.

The police are also innocent until proven guilty.
Just sayin'.
