No need for the smarmy anecdote...in most places outside of the liberal gun free cities your chance of being a victim is pretty low overall. When it does happen...the odds are that it will happen in a gun free or heavily restricted area.

It gun control worked along with higher monitoring and police presents. Prisons would be the safest places on earth.

That you knew of. I'd bet there were guns there more likely than not the people who had 'em realized your left leaning stance on things and just never bothered to let you know they had 'em. Maybe it was the Sierra Club,Save the spotted owl,pro PETA or one of the many other bumper stickers plastered all over your bicycle?
