I live in the north, but man, our winters suck.

Lately our winters have been mild, so there is one good thing about global warming. Maybe there will be a trend back.

it's simple. there is only one reason. northern liberals are sick of paying their "fair share." so they move where taxes are low and they pay low wages to workers. then after a while, they realize they were ruining the states they moved to by voting liberals into office, so you get what you see happening in north carolina.

That's only true for India and China. The next most populated places are all in Europe and then the NE USA. Now if you are talking about fertility rates then you would be correct, but people in warmer climates tend to be less educated and have more kids as a result.

Not me, I prefer cold and snowy weather. Don't have to look at the fatasses wearing skimpy clothes when in public.

It's the "heat vs humidity" debate.

I don't like either but would much rather do 95 and no humidity over 75 and humid as hell.

I don't get it.

Obviously, much of the growth is from Mexicans that have a bunch of kids when they are young.

However, you also have alot of people moving to hot states.

Is it just for cheaper COL?

What do you think?

Having high-fertility populations like blacks and hispanics plays a role.

Being closer to the Mexican border , with its inflow of immigrants, has played a role in recent years. (Even NC/SC/VA saw a sharp rise in the hispanic population.)

Having a net migration of transplants moving from the north plays a role.

As to why there is a net migration of northern transplants, you already touched on the reasons -- lower cost of living. Also, air conditioning is a somewhat-recent invention that makes hot areas more desirable.

Everyone I know in the South always tries to gloat about their climate and how bad we have it here in the winter. I hate scorching heat and don't mind the winter at all. I can put on a coat and go outside all day long and not care what the temp is. I'll never move South.
