A travel investigative team traveled the country to investigate governments startling attempts to get even more people to sign up for hand outs. Friday 10pm Fox

Quid pro quo, the government paying up not by increasing what the original welfare lifers get but instead increasing the number of people getting it.

The SNAP Program is administered at the state level. Eligibility rules vary by state.

The top ten states based on per capita are the perennial favorites, Mississippi, Oregon, Tennessee, New Mexico, Michigan, Louisiana, Kentucky, West Va, Maine and South Carolina.

Instead of posting outrage on internet forums, why not make reform within your own state a priority.

They advertise food stamps, WIC and Medicaid on radio stations here --- and in Spanish, that's how bizarre it's all getting.

Helping feed the people who can't afford enough food to survive, oh the horror!

I volunteer at a homeless shelter. No government is needed to help feed those in need and it is done so far more efficiently and without the fraud, corruption and waste that always accompany state run schemes.

Either you are eligble for assistance or you are not. Educating people who may not know how these programs (that they pay for through taxes) is not a crime. I don't think this is a blatent Cloward/Piven assault.

There might be those who are eligible for food stamps who otherwise might not know they are eligible. How is this a bad thing? SNAP also helps out growers, who benefit from this USDA program. SNAP benefits eventually make their way back into the community. This is why SNAP is one of the easiest assistance programs to get, it directly benefits growers and their workers as opposed to public housing
