Most awesome web image thingy.

What do you call those things anyways? Web "posters" like the posters a person puts on their walls?

If you can choose your sex and not necessarily actually physically be it, why not your age and race? I could say I'm 70 and retire right now or say I'm from another race and get any benefits or special consideration that might entail through affirmative action. Fair is fair.

David Reimer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CBC News Indepth: David Reimer

David Reimer was born a 'normal' boy who had his penis accidently burned off during circumcision as an 8mth old baby. His parents and a 'specialist' made the decision to remove his testicles at 22 mths old and raise him as a girl. The theories in the 60's were that it was more 'social experiences' or 'nurture', that defined how we identified as male and female, so they thought he would think he was a girl if that was the way he looked and was raised. They renamed him Brenda. They never told him he was born a boy, they dressed him as a girl, gave him female hormones when he hit puberty so he developed breasts, yet he still knew he was a boy. By the age of 13, David/Brenda was experiencing suicidal depression and threatened to kill himself.

His 'brain' knew he was a boy, not his absent penis. He wasn't transgender, he was born a 'normal' boy, so it completely screwed him up being raised as a girl when he knew he was a boy - even though his body looked like a girl's.

Think what that would have been like if it had happened to you. Can you relate to what that might have been like?

Now reflect on what it might like for a child who was born transgender to be forced to live their life as a gender their brain tells them they aren't even though their body has all the external attributes of that gender.

This story might help you understand that 'social experiences' and how a child is raised is only a part of 'gender identity'. Hopefully it might give you some insight into what it might be like for transgender children- especially when they go through puberty. BTW, Gender identity is also different from 'gender roles'.

Luckily, we know and understand a LOT more about gender identity, transgenderism and intersexism in the 21st century than they did in the 1960s. Sadly for people like David Reimer in the 1960s, they didn't yet have that knowledge and theories were less evidence-based and more conjectural, but it was cases like David's that led to the far better evidence-based understanding that we have now.
My heart goes out to people whose life is dominated by such identity conflict. No one would wish to go through such difficulty and turmoil. That said, it doesn't mean it is okay to make others uncomfortable. Again, if the theory is that it is untenable to be forced to use the bathroom or locker room with people you feel are not the same gender you are for a transsexual, then it stands to reason that it is no different for those whose bodies match their gender identity. There needs to be a third option - unisex bathrooms and locker rooms in addition to the typical male and female. Just like money wasn't an excuse to not have handicap accessable ramps, bathrooms, and such, this is no different.

Excellent questions....and totally valid questions within the framework of madness that we are dealing with here.

If we are going to allow madness to be at the foundation of social policy, we had better have equal opportunity madness....inclusion....and all that.

If you have a dick you use the boys bathroom, if you don't you use the girls bathroom. End of story.

Maybe I'm transpecies, I'm a dog trapped in a man's body. Therefore everyone should cater to my lifestyle and allow me to urinate anywhere I want to in public.

Nobody chooses their sex.

Taken from Wikipedia, transgender individuals experience a conflict between their physical sex and their internal psychological experience. Neither of these are choices.

I'm still waiting for volunteers to change their anatomy and see if they psychologically match up with what their new sex organs indicate what they are. If you're not willing to do that, then you can't expect transgender individuals to "deal with it."

The slow decline of an empire can get very strange. Stuff like this happened in Germany before Hitler took control, and we all know how that turned out.

This must mean Hitlery Clinton must be in-line to be our next Fuhrer.

Every bit as valid as the "woman" trapped in a man's body.

But then neither was mine. Again I'm a dog trapped in a man's body, and as a dog trapped in a man's body I want the right to **** and s*** and dry hump anyone and anything I want too. After all its not my fault, maybe I was "born" this way. Maybe my brain is "different" in shape. Maybe I didn't "choose" to be a dog trapped in a man's body. Therefore I demand that I have my rights even if they undermine other people's rights who may not want to see a dog trapped in a man's body pissing in public.

Please respect us transpecies people. Oh and I demand the "right" to "marry" another dog of my choice. If you disagree with me then you are clearly a "bigot" and an "anti transpeciesphobe".
