Plastic bags are not "banned" in my neck of the People's Republic yet, but I voluntarily stopped using them years ago. No E Coli yet, winger whack jobs , but I'll kept ya posted
(PS- you can WASH the cloth bags, ya know...)
And contribute to global warming. Waste of water and use fossil fuels to heat the water and provide the electricity.
Ah, so if the store owners of SF decided to no longer carry plastic bags, you would be fine with that?
Of course.

Let the free market work. If enough people are opposed to plastic bags in any given area, then they will be bringing their own cloth bags on their own, and the stores will soon recognize that it is not cost efficient to supply the bags - i.e, they will be losing money.
When that point is reached, the same goal will be accomplished as the ban seeks to attain, but it will have been done voluntarily through actions of free people.
Harrier wants to know why liberals are so in love with the idea of force and coercion.
I guess that is settled, Harrier only cares about the businesses, not the people.
Harrier cares about liberty, and the ability of people to make free choices.
Harrier doesn't care if you wish to use a cloth bag - he just doesn't want anyone to be dictated as to what item they may willingly supply to people at no charge.
Should the law be able to prohibit you from giving away donuts at a garage sale?

harrier would rather have landfills and oceans full of plastic bags so the very few whiners, pissy they can't get a plastic bag are happy.

So you think stores should provide cloth bags, paper bags, plastic bags, cardboard boxes, and wood boxes free of charge so that people have the freedom of free options?
