If the need arises, there are interpreters available.

BTW, not just in New Mexico, but in Arizona too.

"The National Center for Interpretation (NCI) trains individuals as qualified Navajo interpreters and tests them for certification to work in New Mexico and Arizona state courts and other venues to help ensure equal access to justice and fundamental medical and social services."

And in case people are still wondering why:

"The Court Interpreter’s Act of 1978 created a standard for legal proceedings in that any person appearing in federal court has the right to a qualified interpreter. Further, federally funded agencies, including those at state and local levels, must provide language access to clients or risk violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act."

If you're going to have two official languages, then conduct trials entirely in English or entirely in Spanish. No halfsies.
How about you save some of that indignation for your own state.
They do it there too, particularly in El Paso.

That's exactly why people who get US citizenship should be required to learn English.

Probably because my name doesn't contain "momof", "mommy", "chick", "girl", etc.

Trust me, I have plenty of indignation for Texas.

So Navajos aren't teaching their kids English? They don't learn English in school? Kind of hurts their job opportunities in this country, doesn't it?

Sorry what?

Now you are advocating for people to learn a second language?

I am advocating for people to learn the language of the country they reside in. Nice try at spin though.

No spin.

The Navajo are members of their own sovereign nation, one whose land just happens to span parts of Arizona and New Mexico.
