I subbed for a teacher who monitored a computer lab for students taking online courses.
Know what my job was ? Walking up and down the lab telling students to get off youtube, Facebook and the game sites.
By 6th period I just didn't care anymore and let them do what they wanted.

We also issued all the 8th graders chromebooks. Within a week 10 were broke and 5 were "lost". The rest of the year was just like that. They dropped this privilege for the upcoming 8th graders.

That's kind of a$$ backwards though.

Online classes should be done outside of school. That's the point.

I only took a few as an undergrad. You think I sat on campus and did them? Hell no!

Something tells me this is NOT going for high speed internet.
Not with the amount of technology already being used in classrooms.

Grades are online, attendance is online, remedial programs (math/English) are online, state tests are online.
Plus 97% of all teachers have computers in their classrooms.

High School kids should do them on their own time. I'd go down all the way to 6th grade...at the very least.

Yeah, that's what I thought when they announced this new program of online classes.
I thought the students were doing it from home.
I was surprised that they had to come to school and sit in a computer lab to do the online classes.
But I was told they have to because K-12 have attendance requirements.

Taking online classes doesn't mix well with current attendance requirements.

Yeah, that kind of sucks.

Online classes outside of campus help you budget time and increase personal responsibility overall...IMO.

Oh well.
