I am not using any country as an example. I am saying that health care is not equal in any country. never has been, never will be. magic johnson does not have AIDS for one reason. money.
Well, healthcare in this country is among the most unequal in the world. It is about time the human suffering came to an end. The wealthy can still get the best healthcare if they want to pay for it. No one is stopping them. But the working poor will no longer have to forgo health insurance.

so if I understand the democrat platform correctly, which I do, their goal is to keep the wealthy healthy, and kick the middle class down with the parasites where they feel they belong. good platform.
A system in a compassionate society, where everyone put their money in a communal pot, so every single one of its citizens has access to health care and no one is terrified of getting sick and going broke.
Or, as the righties like to say....communism.
Then you expect the poor to start paying for medciaid? Its system where one pays for what another gets free is the reality. Your talking about private pools where everyone pays the same; which provides common coverage which is what insurance is.
so in all of those countries, each citizen gets the exact same health care for the exact same price? nothing is based on socioeconomic circumstances? the "rich" wait in line behind john q. citizen? do you honestly believe this?
I'm sorry, I thought that the topic of this thread was "what is universal health care?" followed by "anyone care to explain this phrase thrown around by LWNJ's? what does it even mean? no country has this."
The OP said absolutely nothing about level of care.
If you wanted to discuss inequality in the world's health care systems why didn't you just say so?
so it is not "universal." it's simply that "everyone has access." much like anyone who dumpster dives behind a mcdonalds has access to food. those who can afford morton's steak house, will still have the better access to food.
The very definition of "universal" as in "universal healthcare" is that everyone has access to care.
What that means is that basic health care needs are met - vaccines, annual exams, dental work, etc.
No one is left at the mercy of an ER and the accompanying bills that will most likely get paid by those who are paying for insurance.
Is having access to the basics better or worse than having no access at all?
Or are you arguing that everyone should have access to Morton's Steak house?
Actually if it resulted in an injury, it probably would be.
