Kind strange huh? If i go ice fishing and my chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 falls thru the ice and sinks, I get a fine of $10,000 dollars for each day it sits on the lake bottom.
This is over a few gallons of gasoline and a little oil... But now there are millions of gallon of contaminated water being dumped in the sea for 2 years and nada word about it.
Pretty soon there will be a lot more cancers and 'we' will wonder why....

Yea it's bad and really all you can do is hope for the best and expect the worst. But I believe the media and EPA were in widespread damage control mode. I wonder how much panic the unadulterated truth would cause.

I wouldn't be worry to much because I do believe the FDA is correct... the ocean is big and more importantly deep where there is almost no movement of water... the radioactive material would likely sink and never see the light of day unless it is disturbed (unlikely, considering how deep it is)... our water supply is freshwater and not saltwater... the only concern would be a small amount of evaporation but most of it should be sufficiently away from humans...

The ocean is big. The volume of the Pacific Ocean is 680 million cubic miles.
Per Infowars, Fukushima is leaking 300 tons of radioactive water into the ocean every day. That's extremely serious -- at least for the area immediately around the plant. 300 tons of water is approximately 80,000 gallons. That sounds scary -- until you realize that a cubic mile of water is 1,101,117,150,000 gallons and the Pacific Ocean contains 680,000,000 of them.
That's 748,759,662,000,000,000,000 gallons.

Tell that to the tuna caught off San Diego. 100% of those caught have 10x the amount of cesium in them then they did last year.
But they are still safe to eat. Half life of cesium is 30 years. |
