I was always told the same thing. They should have included a disclaimer saying, No such thing as stupid questions, except on city-data where anything is possible

The "traitorous" issue was regarding his parents, not the country. To me it indicates a very young poster. While as adults the ideal is to be able to respect your parents and their views, it doesn't mean you have to agree with them you certainly don't let them hold you back.

my friend, if you are a grown up, you need to live the life you feel you were meant to live.

be kind to those who gave you life. Love your faimly and respect their paradyme. BUT remeber they cannot live your life. They dont have to wake up every morning and look at your future. YOU have to do that.

Make peace with yourself and live your life.

The above is written as advice to someone who is beyond the age of 18, is out of highschool and has reached the point of financial and emotional independance.

Now, if you are NOT 18, are still in school please do the following.
LISTEN TO YOUR PARENTS. Respect thier wishes and stop being a pest. You havent lived enough life or gained enough experience to make major life decisions and they are viewing from the position of experience and understanding because they know you better than you know you.

BUT also know that one day very soon, you will reach that age where you are independant and you will need to stand up and live your own authentic life. Prepare yourself for that by being as diligent as possible with your schooling, with your personal time and with who you chose as your friends. Your time will come far too soon.

There is an old turkic saying Yul Bolson! It means "May there always be a road"

I pray you find yours!

Sometimes it's better to avoid political discussions with family members, especially if you guys are opposites

There may not be such a thing as a stupid question, but there are a whole bunch of inquisitive idiots.

Yes...I see that now. Still, "traitor" is a bit strong. Making ones own life decisions, for good or bad, regardless of parental approval or not, is not "traitorous". Lol...were that actually the case, most of us would have been up against a firing squad some time ago.

You shouldn't really care so much about what your parents think about your views if you're financially independent and old enough to travel.
