WOW - this makes me wish I was a Virginian just so I could vote for this guy! (Ron Paul, healthcare)

He's not from Africa. He's from the United States. He wasn't raised in an African home - he was raised in an American home. I respect that he doesn't feel the need to self identify as "African" American.

like I said, he doesn't say anything unique or special, hear that point every day on here
Given he's an Evangelical minister, I would expect him to be able to give a good, rousing speech. Most speeches are now written by political consultants and are designed to maximize an emotional response from its intended audience. However, being able to give a speech and run a state are two very different skills.
He has never held an elected political office (his last run for Senator in 2012 he had 5% of the vote). There are more qualified Republicans here that declined to run (mostly because they know that Cuccinelli, the GOP candidate for Governor, is flawed and will most likely lose). Jackson's political positions are straight-up Social Conservative which alienates most independents and centrists. Overall he may be a nice guy but for this election he's just filler for the ballot box.
He hits all the tea party talking points and believes there is no role for government, not in healthcare, not in regulating mining, and not in zoning or having police respond to noise complaints (my understanding of his 'government can't tell us we can't have party in our own house")

Me, too. It's hardly a good reason to vote for someone, but 90% of the fools who call themselves African-Americans don't even know what or where Africa is.
