I don't know anyone who just SUDDENLY stopped believing, but I've known many to SUDDENLY start. Usually after bible camp

Wrong. It is because everybody agreed that they were and then codified it into law.

I think you mean irreducible complexity. It's an idea that comes from the ID/Creationist crowd and has been disproven. Read up on Michael Behe and the Dover trial.
