I don't think that at all. I think I am just a very small part of something pretty spectacular and I feel lucky to be here.
We are nothing like any other animal on Earth (atheists believe humans are just smart mammals right?)
Humans are the only beings on this planet to have to deal with paradoxes. We are the only ones who will risk our own lives to keep a total stranger safe, and gladly give our own life to save a loved one. Without hesitation. We feel sympathy even for an enemy. We question our own behavior, do you think a tiger questions ripping up an animal, even when it's not hungry?
How can you think that without a divine soul you would be who you are? Wouldn't we get more cold and ruthless the smarter we become like the rest of the animal kingdom? Wouldn't we simply kill defective babies and then tie the tubes of the mother to prevent any chance of more? Wouldn't we euthanize anyone with a low IQ or a criminal? What is the point if there isn't morality?
Group selection explains each one of your "divine soul" arguments. We're animals, albeit social animals like bees or naked mole rats.
Last I checked, I had some pretty kickin mammaries and I could probably grow a placenta if I tried, so that firmly puts me into the category of placental mammal. I'm not sure what you think you are, but I know my place on the phylogenetic tree.

rose colored glasses? We are also the ones that kill eachother, torture eachother. You have young people killing just for the thrill or to see what it feels like. People set fire to dogs and laugh about it. People throw acid on other people for absurd reasons. Let's not pretend we are better than animals, in many ways animals are superior to humans. For the record, there are many instances of animals saving humans, including dolphins and whales.
I think the Creationist crowd needs to kick back, chill out, smoke a joint...or have a drink or something and contemplate Kubrick's "2001 A Space Odyssey".
Even a lowly rat will free a cage mate and forego food if it means his buddy will avoid an electric shock. Social animals do exhibit empathy. Humans are merely mammals with larger brains, capable of larger atrocities and larger selfless acts of courage. There is no connection to a divine spark.

So you think that this world, this perfect habitat for humans just happened out of nothing? Look around you, all the animals, the fish and the birds. All put here to maintain this world for humans. Just because the sheer genius of creation is beyond you....you deny it.
You were put HERE for a reason. Do you not believe that? You are not an animal, you have feelings. You feel for others, when an animal would just look for weaknesses and strike. We are completely different than every single animal on the Earth and for no logical reason.
You have eyes but you will not see, you have ears but you will not hear.

Because we don't believe in some sky daddy, we believe in nothing?
