If someone is a murderer, repeat rapist, school bully, or some other kind of criminal, do you think the icepick might be a good way to "cure" them of their sickness?

They could never hurt anyone else, they would have no freedom, and there wouldn't be any need to imprison or execute them or do any cruelty to them. And their victims would be satisfied that their wits and freedom were taken away.

They would be so incapacitated that they wouldn't even realize what they had lost, so in a way it would actually be quite humane too.

An ice pick above their eyeballs and into their brain isn't punishment enough. And yeah, it would merely create another democrat.

Lobotomy didn't accomplish half the things the OP suggests. Lobotomized people still functioned and walked amongst us. Just not on all cylinders.

None. She was mentally retarded. It was done then as a treatment for violent outbursts.

You are way wrong.

She was not retarded. She was a wild child and they had her lobotomized to keep her from running loose in the streets, embarrassing the family.

It was only AFTER a lobotomy gone wrong that she became retarded. Her lobotomy was one of Dr. Freeman's horrible mistakes.

Um, it depends on how it's done. Some of them don't do much, others can turn you into a vegetable.

No.

Turning people into liberals is cruel and unusual.

Not only to them, but to the rest of us.

You're right, a Binet IQ of 60 at age 15 means you're wild, not retarded.

Eunice Kennedy Shriver: My sister Rosemary | World news | The Guardian

The realities is that her story is all over the place with some, claiming as you do, that she was normal with others saying she wasn't.

She's dead. They're all dead.

Of course the family would say that. Covering their azzes.

The doctor and those who knew say otherwise.

If you research "lobotomy" independent of a Kennedy statement, you'll find the truth.

Sample:

Rosemary Kennedy

At the age of 23, Rosemary Kennedy was given a lobotomy to control her “moodiness.” Rosemary had been known to have a violent behavioral pattern and Dr. Walter Freeman, the leading doctor to perform this procedure, had suggested to Joseph Kennedy, her father, that she undergo this procedure. So, in 1941, when only sixty-five lobotomies had been performed, Mr. Kennedy gave his permission. The surgery left her incontinent and her brain was reduced to an infantile mentality. She would stare at walls blankly for hours and her verbal skills went to unintelligible babble. Eight years after the lobotomy was performed, she was moved to a home for disabled people. She became detached from the family, due to her mental capacity, but received regular visits from her sister Eunice. There were occasions when she would visit her family and even her childhood home. The family hid what had happened to her for years saying that she was mentally handicapped. She passed away at the ripe old age of 86 of natural causes.
