This^. I remember that in 1968, when I got drafted, talking to several contemporaries who were dodging the draft by various means. At first they pontificated about moral issues but in the end they admitted that they just were either scared to death or just plain weren't going to be inconvenienced or have their neat little lives disrupted.
So what if you just don't want to risk your life for your country? Or you don't want your kid to risk his or her life?
Suppose you put yourself ahead of your country? Is that OK?

In today's climate, wars must be politically correct. So yes, in today's climate it's perfectly OK to dodge the draft.
If wars go back to being fought to win, then no, it won't be OK.
But today, if you lose your life as a soldier, it has no more meaning than a stupid video game.
