We'd have to be kidding ourselves if we honestly believe the First Amendment is still fully intact today; yes, we can say certain things but our government is gradually going to pass laws that restrict (when needed) us to speak on certain matters rather its Benghazi or Lavabit, our government obviously wants to suppress certain information. Now am I saying that our government will go full blown 1984 and block off the usage of certain words? I don't think so, but the flow of information will only continue to be suppressed in the coming years. This isn't solely a Democrat or Republican issue but a bi-partisan issue that both sides seem to want done; now when I say sides I'm not talking you and I but instead our politicans and with that being said I bring you two the next issue: We Are Not Our Politicans. Many of us here are so damn partisan towards our politicans that its disgusting; you can agree with Romney or Obama on certain issues but all issues makes you appear to be a fool. Criticizing is something we need to do to any and every politican regardless of our political affiliations.

Well, that's all I really wanted to get off my chest to everyone.

What can you not say? People seem to say whatever they want about Benghazi.

the government can pass all the laws they want restricting free speech, but in the end they will all be struck down in the scotus as unconstitutional, unless we get an activist court that rewrites the laws to make them constitutional, again.

You have got it all wrong. We live in the glorious socialist republic. We love Big Brother. Everything is wonderful. No one ever has a complaint. We all appreciate the new blankets that were issued this morning.
The food is wonderful.
We love Big Brother.

Some rodeo clown wore an Obama mask to work and there are people calling for DOJ and Secret Service investigations.
The fact that Obama himself didn't come out and say "Leave the guy alone. He has a Right to express his thoughts about me even if I don't agree with his opinion or the way he expressed it. The First Amendment is bigger than any President, and this President is big enough to take a joke." shows how we've been infantilized in this country. From 'political correctness' to speech codes, to work place seminars, grown adults are telling other grown adults "You can't say that" -and we're not fighting back.

The First Amendment is still fully in play - it is just selectively enforced, sorta like immigration laws, and financial laws, ...

I think I am seeing a trend here...

So now Obama must comment on everything every American does?
